Test di tenuta all'aria
Blower Door Test - BDT
The Blower Door Test (BDT) is a test able to measure the air thickness of a building envelope. This test is able, in detail, to calculate which is the infiltration, like air flow, that from indoor to outdoor across the building envelope. Calculate the infiltration air flow is not too difficult: a ventilator has to be installed and fixed on a stable door/window hole; bring in pressurization/depressurization the indoor environment; calculate the ratio between air flow which across the envelope and the entire indoor volume (till the air thickness layer). The ratio is the n50 parameter. The parameter n50 says how many indoor air volumes we change per unit of time (one hour) when a difference of 50Pa is set between the indoor and outdoor environment. The 50 Pa pressure is the force applied on our envelope in case outdoor the wind speed is about 9m/s. This is the requirements have to be met in accord with the EN 13829 European standard.
Actually the n50 limits used like reference in the most national/regional standards to guarantee the energy efficiency of building are from the German Passive Institute. The following work is a research that has been completed in the Energy Agency from the Province of Trento. The main aim is to get clearer what is behind the air thickness test for buildings which meet the local law requirement. However it would be also a general air thickness interpretation. The problem, which was discovered by technicians who work under the province jurisdiction, is about the BDT limits which have to be met for a new construction in energetic class A+. These limits are often too hard to be met, too strictly and they are not easy to be understood because of the not sufficient amount of information around this topic. The questions emerge are: which relation link the n50 parameter of BDT with the thermal power recorded for the energetic certification? A real example would be: if a building was planned to be A+ (this mean that the local jurisdiction permit to add Bonus volume to the project), and so it has to meet a specific n50 limit (0.6 1/h), and, once the construction phase is completed the test limit is not respected (1 1/h), how can be the test interpreted? How penalize the energy efficient of the initial project plan? How insert this parameter in the local energetic certification practice? The point is to find a reasonable relation and an elastic methodology of interpretation. The answers are technical but, may be more, political. The research is titled "Interpretation of the Blower Door test - BDT" (unfortunately it is not translated in English but the main idea would be explained under voice Theory). The text contain: a technical-scientific theory about how consider the BDT; differences of the same concept with the jurisdiction of the near Province of Bolzano; data and graphics. The text is free to be downloaded and it contributes like general informations.
